About Business Account Offer

An independent UK site about business account offers. We are not Tide, and we do not pretend to be.

Offer data verified by Rachel Chen on 5 October 2026. Next scheduled review: 5 November 2026. How we verify →

Why this site exists

Business account promotions are badly documented. The reward is advertised loudly and the conditions — which windows apply, what counts as qualifying activity, when validation happens — are buried in terms pages most people never open. This site consolidates six earlier single-topic websites into one place where the mechanics are written out properly, dated, and sourced back to the provider's own terms.

We built it because we kept seeing the same gap: readers asking straightforward questions ('will I actually get the £200', 'is my account protected', 'is this the same as Tide's own referral scheme') and finding either marketing copy or nothing at all. The aim is a site that answers the actual question, states clearly when it does not know something, and tells you where to check for yourself.

We are also trying to fix a specific, avoidable failure mode in this niche: sites that present a partner cashback campaign as though it were the bank's own official scheme, or that quietly drop a drawback because it undermines a click. Neither is illegal, but both are dishonest by omission, and both are common enough in this space that a reader has good reason to be sceptical of any account-opening site they land on, including this one until they have read how we work.

Meet the editorial team

Business Account Offer is run by three people: Sarah Mitchell (Editor-in-Chief), James Okafor (Small Business Banking Specialist) and Rachel Chen (Fintech & Digital Banking Researcher). Between them they bring together twelve years of consumer finance editing, eight years of front-line business banking advisory, and four years of fintech research.

Sarah Mitchell has spent twelve years writing about UK business finance, starting as a reporter on a trade title covering SME lending before moving into editorial roles at two consumer finance publishers. She is responsible for the accuracy of the offer mechanics pages and sets the editorial standards the whole team works to. She opened her own Tide account in 2024 to test the onboarding flow first-hand, and the experience directly shaped how the site documents the application journey.

James Okafor spent eight years as a business banking adviser at a major UK high-street bank, working directly with sole traders, limited companies and small partnerships on account selection, overdraft facilities and day-to-day cash management. He left in 2021 to write independently about the fintech products that were disrupting the space he had worked in. At Business Account Offer, James leads the comparison and features coverage and writes the guides aimed at specific business types.

Rachel Chen studied economics at UCL before joining a fintech consultancy where she spent four years analysing how small businesses adopt digital banking tools. She has contributed research to industry reports on open banking adoption and SME cash-flow management. At Business Account Offer, Rachel handles the features and tools coverage and leads the monthly verification cycle, cross-checking figures against Tide's live pages.

One person is accountable for the accuracy of a given page at any time, and that accountability does not disappear once a page is published. We do not claim awards, press coverage or accolades the site has not actually received.

What we are not

We are not Tide, not owned or operated by Tide, and not authorised to make decisions about accounts, eligibility or rewards. We do not provide financial advice, we do not process applications, and we cannot chase a payment or an account decision on your behalf — that is between you and Tide. Where we describe Tide's product, we are reporting on it and citing Tide's own pages, not speaking for the company.

We are also not a comparison-shopping engine in the sense of being paid to rank one provider above another. Our commercial relationship, described in full on our commercial disclosure page, is a referral reward tied to Tide specifically. That narrower model is worth stating plainly, because it means we have no live incentive to say anything about a competing provider beyond what we believe to be true.

How we verify offers, and how often

Before any offer is marked live and verified on this site, someone on our team reads the campaign terms on the exact page a reader would apply through — not a summary, not a press release, the actual live terms — and records the reward amounts, qualifying windows and eligibility conditions, along with the date they were checked. That record is what feeds the figures you see on our offer and mechanics pages, rather than prose typed freely and left to drift out of date.

We recheck monthly as a minimum, and sooner if we have reason to think something has changed — a reader report of a different reward, a visible change to Tide's own pages, or a change to the wider referral landscape. When a recheck shows a change, we update the page and log what changed and when, rather than quietly editing the number. If we cannot verify a figure with confidence, the page says so explicitly and points to Tide's own current page rather than guessing.

How we make money, and what that does and does not influence

When an eligible applicant opens an account through our link or code, we may receive a referral reward from Tide. That is the entire business model, and it creates an obvious incentive to overstate an offer — which is why our editorial policy forbids guarantees, invented ratings and unsourced figures, and why we publish limitations and drawbacks on the same pages as the calls to action, not hidden away on a separate page nobody reads.

What it does influence: which provider we have covered in the greatest depth so far (Tide, because that is where our commercial relationship and our research effort currently sit), and the fact that we keep the offer pages accurate and current, since a wrong figure damages trust and, ultimately, referrals. What it does not influence: whether a page tells you Tide is a poor fit for your business, whether we publish a drawback, or how we word a risk warning. Those decisions are made by the same editorial standard regardless of whether they help or hurt a click.

What we will and will not publish

  • We will publish dated, sourced figures on offer mechanics, fees and protection status, with a link to the primary source.
  • We will publish honest drawbacks and who a product is a poor fit for, on the same page as any recommendation.
  • We will not publish testimonials we cannot verify, invented ratings, or guaranteed outcomes.
  • We will not present our commercial campaign as Tide's own official referral programme, and we flag the distinction wherever it matters.
  • We will not publish a star rating or aggregate score for any product, because we do not run a verified review panel and a fabricated number would mislead more than it would help.
  • We will not keep a page live once we know it is materially wrong, even temporarily, while we decide whether to fix it.

How to raise a correction or a concern

If something on this site is wrong, we want to know and we want to fix it. Send us the page, the specific claim, and — where you have one — the primary source that contradicts it, through our contact route linked from the corrections section of our editorial policy. Genuine errors are corrected and the correction is logged on the affected page; we do not quietly delete mistakes.

The same route works for a concern that is not strictly a factual error — a page that reads as more persuasive than the underlying facts justify, or a comparison that feels unbalanced. We take that kind of feedback as seriously as a factual correction, because tone and emphasis are as capable of misleading a reader as an incorrect number.

Where we are heading

The brand is deliberately generic. The initial focus is Tide and the REFER200 campaign because that is where we have depth, but the structure supports other UK business account providers as we can research them properly. We would rather have twenty pages that are correct and re-checked monthly than two hundred that are filler.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are you affiliated with Tide?

No. We are an independent site that may earn a referral reward when a reader opens an account through our link, disclosed in full on our commercial disclosure page.

Who writes the content on this site?

The site is written and maintained by Sarah Mitchell (Editor-in-Chief), James Okafor (Small Business Banking Specialist) and Rachel Chen (Fintech & Digital Banking Researcher). Each article carries a byline showing which team member wrote it.

How do I report an error?

Use the contact route linked from this page and our editorial policy page, and include the specific claim and, if you have one, the source that contradicts it.

Do you cover providers other than Tide?

Not yet in depth. We would rather research a new provider properly before publishing than add shallow coverage for its own sake.
