Commercial disclosure

We earn referral rewards. Here is exactly how that works and what we do to stop it distorting the content.

The disclosure

Business Account Offer is a trading name of Five Thirty Limited, registered in England and Wales (company number 12309500). Further company information is available on request at contact@businessaccountoffer.co.uk. We are an independent website and are not owned or operated by Tide. We may receive a referral reward when an eligible applicant uses our link or code to open a Tide account. Tide, not us, determines account approval, offer eligibility and reward validation, and Tide can change or withdraw its own campaigns at any time.

How we make money, in full

Our only revenue on this site is referral rewards paid by Tide when a reader we referred opens and uses an account in a way that meets Tide's own qualifying criteria. We do not charge readers, we do not sell data, and we do not run display advertising unrelated to the account itself. Because this is our only revenue source, the honest risk to flag is that it gives us an incentive to make the offer sound better than it is — the controls below exist specifically to counter that incentive.

We receive nothing for a reader simply visiting the site, reading a page, or using a calculator. The reward only exists if a reader goes on to open and actually use a Tide account under the campaign's own qualifying rules, which means our incentive is tied to genuinely useful, accurate content that leads to a real account opening — not to raw traffic or page views.

What this does influence, and what it does not

It influences which provider we have researched in the greatest depth so far, since our current commercial relationship and research effort both sit with Tide. It does not influence whether a specific page recommends Tide for a given reader's situation. Our pros-and-cons, comparison and review pages are built to tell a mismatched reader that Tide is not the right fit, even though that reader will not generate a referral reward if they take our advice and choose elsewhere.

How offers are verified before publication

Before a page states a reward amount, qualifying window or eligibility rule, someone on our editorial team reads the current campaign terms on the exact page a reader would apply through, records the details and the date checked, and rechecks at least monthly. Figures that have not been verified this way are not published as fact — this is the same process described in more detail on our editorial policy page.

What that means in practice

  • Outbound commercial links are marked as sponsored or affiliate and open in a new tab.
  • The disclosure appears near the first commercial call to action on every commercial page, and in the footer of every page on the site.
  • Limitations and drawbacks appear on the same pages as the calls to action, not on a page nobody reads.
  • We never state or imply that a reward is guaranteed, or a specific payment date, since Tide controls both.
  • Tools marked as illustrative do not present themselves as an official calculator or a guarantee of outcome.

What we do not do

We do not accept payment to change a verdict, remove a drawback, or publish a rating we have not independently formed. We do not sell placement in comparison tables. We do not present a partner campaign as an official Tide page, and we flag explicitly where our REFER200 mechanics differ from Tide's own public Refer a Friend programme, since the two are easily confused and carry different terms.

We also refuse specific practices that are common enough elsewhere in this niche to be worth naming: burying a drawback below the fold on a long page so it is technically present but practically invisible, using a countdown timer that resets to imply urgency that does not exist, and describing a discretionary decision by Tide as if it were guaranteed.

Corrections route for commercial content

If you believe a commercial page overstates a benefit, understates a drawback, or states a figure that does not match Tide's current terms, tell us through the contact route linked from our about and editorial policy pages. We treat commercial-page corrections with the same priority as any other factual error, and log the correction on the page once resolved.

Your data

The interactive tools on this site run entirely in your browser. The eligibility checker, calculators and checklists do not transmit your answers anywhere, and we do not collect financial details through them. Analytics may record that a tool was used, but never what you entered into it.

Review cadence for this disclosure

This page is reviewed alongside our editorial policy on the same monthly cadence, and updated immediately if our commercial relationship with Tide or the structure of the campaign changes in a way that affects how we earn money from this site.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you get paid just for a click?

No. A reward only arises if a reader goes on to open and use a Tide account under the campaign's qualifying rules.

Could you recommend an account you know is a bad fit?

No. Our review, comparison and pros-and-cons pages are built to say when Tide is not the right choice, even though that costs us a potential referral.

Is your relationship with Tide exclusive?

Our current commercial relationship and deepest research both sit with Tide. That is a statement of where our current coverage is, not a promise of permanent exclusivity.

Where do I raise a concern about a commercial page?

Use the contact route linked from this page and our about page, and describe the specific claim you believe is overstated or understated.
